CCTV & ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place on a limited set of monitors. In industrial plants, CCTV equipment may be used to observe parts of a process from a central control room, for example when the environment is not suitable for humans.
Many consumers are turning to wireless security cameras for home surveillance. Wireless cameras do not require a video cable for video/audio transmission, simply a cable for power. Wireless cameras are also easy and inexpensive to install.
An access control system that can send an automated alert to a user’s mobile device when a door is propped open or left unlocked after hours, or is disabled, adds significant value to the customer. Even greater value can be added when the system is integrated with video surveillance to allow the customer to view the open door in real-time from their mobile device.

Electric Fencing

An electric fence is a barrier that uses electric shocks to deter animals or people from crossing a boundary. The voltage of the shock may have effects ranging from discomfort, to pain, it could even be lethal.
Non-lethal electric fences are used to prevent trespass by both private and government-sector bodies. Many of these electric fences act as monitored burglar alarm systems in addition to causing an uncomfortable shock. Electrified palisade fences are used to protect isolated property and high security facilities, but also around residential homes.
Due to the high levels of crime in South Africa, it is common for residential houses to have perimeter defences. The use of palisade fencing over opaque, usually brick, walls is recommended, as criminals cannot hide as easily behind the fence.

Certificate Of Compliance
Regulation 12 of the Electric Machinery Regulations of 2011 stipulates that all electric fences installed after October 1, 2012 must be certified and have an electric-fence system certificate of compliance. It also applies to electric fences that have been altered, added to or where ownership of the premises changes. You will be unable to transfer property with an electric fence unless you provide an electric-fence certificate (EFC) to the conveyance attorney.
EAR Engineering is an accredited electric fence system installer and have the necessary qualifications to issue an EFC.
Although sectional title properties do not require an EFC to effect transfer, Bodies Corporate and business entities are still legally responsible for any electric fence installation on the property and can be sued and prosecuted for non-compliance – especially if someone gets hurt.
A certificate is also required when a change and or addition is made to an existing installation – such as restringing an electric fence, or any additions to an electric fence.
Should a fence be found to be non-compliant, it will either have to be upgraded to compliance or the owner will be forced to remove it.
In cases where electric fences have not been installed by a certified electric-fence installer, the homeowner could face financial loss when their insurance claim is rejected or even legal costs associated with liability claims.
